Project overview
Cazamio is a New York-based B2B SaaS company that’s all about making life easier for residential rental teams.
They had a vision to develop a custom CRM solution that would allow tenants to take a virtual 3D tour of the apartment, take a self-guided tour of the apartment, submit applications, and sign leases – all from a single system.
Backstory
Like any great business, Cazamio’s journey wasn’t without its bumps. Having spent a year with a development team that didn’t hit the mark, they had to pivot and start over from scratch.
When they first came to A-Development, their goal initially was to build a realtor-free renting system for apartments with Yale and Igloohome wireless locks, so the tenants could rent a place right from their Android/iOS device. Cazamio wanted to allow tenants to unlock the door using their phone, come in, and live right after. No realtors, no middle men, all by yourself.
But as the market shifted, especially post-COVID, they reconsidered their business model.
Cazamio’s Chief Product Officer was hands-on from the start, so we made sure to really understand what Cazamio needed in a deep discovery phase. His goal? To build software that was perfectly tailored to the unique demands of residential rental teams in the New York State area. He aspired to provide these teams with a powerful, customized platform that integrates seamlessly into their daily operations, cutting out the need for clunky third-party tools.
The challenge
Cazamio had a tough job on their hands. The system needed to handle a complex set of business rules that, if ignored, could lead to serious financial and legal trouble in rental deals. On top of that, they had to transition their entire system—both tenant and landlord portals—into a new SaaS-based platform. The real trick? Doing all this without losing any of their existing clients.
This is where A-Development stepped up.
The solution
After a deep discovery phase, we aligned our visions on solution architecture, tech stack, and communication flow to deliver software that could be fine-tuned to the exact needs of Cazamio clients.
The solution included a tenant and a landlord portal, each with their distinct features and functionalities. The new system was launched in 2021 with a team of 5 developers. Since then, the A-Development team has been maintaining the product post-launch and perfecting the app by constantly communicating with end customers and refactoring.
It’s been up and running up until today.
I got people to say, “I'm going to pay you for what you have”. That's a more important milestone, I think, that people should give more credit for when building software. Built-in options for running promotions like "Concessions" and "Free Stuff" to attract more tenants.
Electronic signatures
Integrated with Docusign for lease agreements, while still offering flexibility for those who prefer traditional signing methods.
Simple tenant communication
An easy-to-use chat system that keeps everyone in the loop throughout the rental process.
Outcome
Over the years, Cazamio turned into a top-notch, custom-built platform that fits both tenants and rental teams like a glove. It’s packed with features designed to streamline everything from property management to tenant communications and payments, all in one smooth, integrated system.
This powerful, complex SaaS management tool sets big goals ahead of it: they plan to engage most of the big firms in NYC in the next 2 years.
