Backstory

In 2015, a UK-based luxury travel business, now known as BestAtTravel, came to us with a bold vision: to revamp its website and unify several separate brands under a single, modern platform. Previously called TravelDay, the client operated five subsidiary brands, each offering luxury hotel bookings for weddings, honeymoons, and special events. The goal was to create a cohesive, seamless experience for high-end clients, while still keeping the brands distinct and hiding the fact that all properties came from a single owner.

The main challenge lay in synchronizing bookings across multiple brands in real-time. Any reservation on one brand’s site had to be instantly reflected on the others, without tipping off users about the shared inventory. Key challenges included:

Real-Time Synchronization:

Even tiny delays in updating availability across sites (like 0.03 seconds instead of 0.01 seconds) could lead to issues, impacting the experience for discerning clients.

Time Zone Management:

Customers booking from different time zones needed to see accurate availability, which made ensuring precise, up-to-date information essential.

Preventing Booking Collisions:

Despite safeguards, occasional booking conflicts would arise, especially during peak traffic. To manage these, we provided 24/7 support and steadily refined the system to make it more robust over time.

Custom Booking Logic and Inventory Sync:

We built a booking system that handled real-time updates across multiple sites, allowing the client to maintain separate brands while sharing a single inventory.

Automated Pricing and Availability Adjustments:

The backend automatically updated availability to reflect bookings across platforms, preventing overlaps and minimizing user confusion.

Continuous Monitoring and Support:

We set up real-time monitoring to catch issues early and provided 24/7 support until the system was fully stable.
